Opening Song: #202 Oh, Come All Ye Faithful

Sacrament Song: #173 While of These Emblems We Partake

Christmas is a wonderful time of year.  It is a time to reach out beyond ourselves to touch the lives of others.  It could be an estranged family member, a long-lost friend, or just reconnecting with our neighbors.  There is no better way to spread the good news than through music.  Just the sound of a simple bell ringing can lighten our hearts.  Just listen to the lyrics of this music and let your heart feel the spirit of Christmas.

In the quaint little village of Bethlehem, the world stood still as the baby child was born.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

A Way in a Manger – Primary

The gifts that we give to each other should remind us of the gift that God, our Heavenly Father, gave to the world, even his only begotten son.

Silent Night – Sister Jennifer Rencher, Cameron Jones, Kennedy Jones, Sophie Gardiner, and Grace Rencher on the Violin

The night before the fulfillment of these prophesies, the Savior himself appeared to Nephi saying:  “Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold the time is at hand, and on this night shall the sign be given, and on the morrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfill all that which I have caused to be spoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.

The First Noel #213 – congregational hymn

What Child is this – Chante Engh and Catia Brookhart (Harp & Cello)

As the star in the heaven showed the shepherds the way to the Christ child – The world witnessed the star and the humble understood its meaning.  These next few songs describe that night, the signs that were given, and the sounds that were heard.

Angels we have heard on High – youth

How it would have been if we were there to witness that wonderful event – the birth of the Savior of the World.

Were you there on that Christmas Night – Ward Choir

While these events were going on in Bethlehem, great wonders were occurring among the Nephites on this hemisphere as prophesied by Samuel the Lamanite.  “And behold, this will I give unto you for a sign at the time of his coming; for behold, there shall be great lights in heaven, insomuch that in the night before he cometh there shall be no darkness, insomuch that it shall appear unto man as if it was day.

Joy to the World #201 – congregational hymn

During these times of world turmoil, let us enjoy this holiday season while remembering the true meaning of Christmas, our gifts we bring, and present at the foot of the manager.  We celebrate the birth of our savior and redeemer, Jesus Christ.  Hallelujah and Merry Christmas

In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen
