Ward Water Friendship Fun

Dear Ward Members and Neighbors,

The Youth Quorum and Class Presidents have organized a wonderful 2 week ministering challenge activity to help each ministering group get to know each other in a creative and team building way, while having some innocent fun at the same time.

Please support the Youth Counsel by taking sometime to talk with your ministering group and developing a plan.

Event: Water Friendship War

Date: Monday July 31st – August 15th

Participants: All members in your ministering group, Family Teams

Setup: Please create a list of those living in your home and place it on your front door (This can be with names or a number representing each member of your family).  Cross off the each team player as they are HIT and taken out of the game.  Once everyone in your family/team has been HIT you can write “We are all out”.

Definitions:

Hit: Drenching someone with water and having another person record the drenching to provide evidence.  This will require working as a team.

Armory: Supersoaker, water gun, water balloon, hose, bucket.

Target: An individual in your ministering group.

Opt Out: Anyone on your team can choose not to participate in the action.

Red X: Place on your front door symbolizing the Passover of the angel of Death reference in the book of Exodus.

Blue X: Placed on your front door Participate but only with acts of kindness.

Ground Rules:

  • Please consider others and get them wet at a reasonable time, not before work, after they get ready, when they’re in nice clothes etc.
  • No targeting individuals while they are inside their home or in their car.
  • If an adult holds up an X with their hands they will then have a few minutes-5 to prepare themselves, (Self-defense) but then must engage.  If a youth hold up an X with their hands, then they have seconds-5 to dispose of any items they don’t want to get wet (ie.  Phone, wallet)
  • Adults are allowed to target anyone as long as they are reasonable about it.
  • Youth are allowed to target adults and other Youth.
  • Primary kids can’t be targeted except in self-defence, if they engage first.
  • Primary Kids can target anyone.
  • You need to have your HITs documented.  Record each HIT on video and send the video to the other in your ministing group.

If anyone in your ministering group decides not to participate, they can still be a Target.  Instead of drenching this person or family you can do something nice for them. Deliver in a kind way, a water bottle symbolizing the HIT.  Maybe, present them with a nice treat to let them know you are thinking about them.  Individuals can also participate but establish their arsonal, nice acts of kindness etc.

Optional Targeting Event: If your group would rather you can plan a day to go to a park and play then. You can use Water Guns, Water Balloons, or Drench them with a bucket of water. We ask you to please clean up your mess if you make one.

For questions, please reach out to Cashe Garner, Teacher’s Quorum President or Elisa Skousen, Senior Class President.

Loosen up, cool down, and have some fun.
